In January, a main line broke resulting in a boil water order for some customers. We received calls asking about our boil water policy. These procedures are listed below:
*Once a line has been broken and it is deemed that a boil water needs to be issued, the district has to notify the Kentucky Division of Water (DOW).
*Local newspapers, radio stations, news stations, and dispatch are notified. There will also be a pop-up on this website.
*Once the leak is fixed, a water sample has to be taken.
*When the results of the sample are received (usually 24-48 hrs), the DOW must be notified of the sample results.
* The DOW must give the ok to lift the order.
*Local newspapers, radio stations, news stations, and dispatch are notified again that the order has been lifted.
