Well, it’s finally spring! Maybe all this nasty, rainy weather will be behind us and pretty, warmer days are ahead. For many of us, the winter hibernation is too much to handle! We long to ditch the heavy winter coats for light jackets or even sweatshirts outside.
Once the sun starts shining, warming up the air, we become like little army ants; busy, busy, busy! Getting that new flower bed prepped and waiting to see tulips and Easter flowers peek through the dirt. Chopping and removing stumps from trees that didn’t survive the winter. Falling tree limbs lead to fences needing to be replaced. Maybe replacing a water line or hydrant that busted during the cold temps.
This leads to the question in the title. Do you know BUD??? Who is BUD you may ask? Why do I need to know them? BUD is the Before You Dig program that the state of KY provides to help save you time and hard-earned money! And best of all its FREE!!!! How does it save you time? Utilities that are partnered with BUD come out and locate their lines for you. How does it save you money? If you do not make a request and hit a line (even with a shovel) the utility company can bill you for all the damages and repairs. (Trust me, you DO NOT want to hit a fiber optic cable!!)
All it takes is one simple phone call (dial 811) or visit their website (www.kentucky811.com) to make a request.
So save yourself time and money and get to know BUD!
