According to www.Nationaldaycalendar.com, June 23rd is National Hydration Day! Many essential bodily functions require water to keep us up and going on a daily basis. Too little fluids can result in dehydration and a trip to the hospital. So while you are outside working away in the garden, mowing the yard, farming, or doing construction, keep these tips in mind.
* Mark one of your glasses with times and set a goal to drink so much water within the time frame.
* Add cut up fruit to your water for natural flavoring. Good examples are lemons, pineapples, oranges, etc. There are also special water bottles and pitchers with a core in the middle to add the fruit. Thus infusing the water with fruit flavor.
* Look for free apps that you can download to your phone that remind you when it’s time to take a drink. You could also set a timer on your phone to remind you.
* Drink with a friend. Most people will stick with a task if they are held accountable to someone else. Encouragement (or competition) from a friend will motivate you to stick with your plan!
* When you get a hunger pain, drink a glass of water instead of grabbing that bag of chips! Most of the time that will satisfy your pain and you get water intake all in one!
I’m sure there are many more tips to help meet your hydration needs. So beat the heat and the hospital, and stay hydrated this summer!!!!
